Pyrgos: The dismantling of the OAED footbridge is mandatory – Overnight operation

The large wooden pedestrian bridge of E.O. Patras – Pyrgos at the height of OAED in Pyrgos. After an overnight operation with dozens of staff, machinery and cranes, the dawn was completed successfully. Initially, the highway was closed and the traffic was made by the auxiliary roads, while after about two hours, the highway was reopened. Present in the process was the Deputy Regional Governor of Ilia, Vassilis Giannopoulos, who spoke about the need to dismantle the bridge, due to the recent danger. it was a highly urgent action, given the danger it posed. I would like to point out that these footbridges were not used for several years and in fact did not meet the need of the citizens to cross the specific point. In addition, there was a great danger due to the worn materials of the footbridge as well as the given its collapse. For this reason, it had to be dismantled immediately and after cooperation and coordinated actions with the Directorate of Technical Works of the headquarters of Achaia and with Mr. Karagiannis the general manager, we managed today to implement this dismantling. I would like to thank Mr. Karagiannis, as well as the Police Director of Ilia, Mr. Mandalos, for the assistance he provided to us today, in order to regulate the traffic of passing vehicles and to proceed safely with this action. I point out that if in the future there is a need for pedestrian crossing from this point, we have already considered the possibility of placing a traffic light signaling with controlled pedestrian crossing “noted Mr. Giannopoulos.
